I have no problem with sending this gentleman into space as long as he does it the way most everyone else has had to do it: PhD or other advanced degree, tenure in the military, etc. If he is to visit the ISS he should have to demonstrate a skill set that makes him an asset to the ISS during his tenure there. Singing and dancing is not a proactive skill set relative to doing science nor is assisting a Hollywood concern in making a profit through advertising deals. If this is all being done to encourage the younger set to pursue astronautics as a career then we are going to see a lot more contestants on "PopStars" or "Making the Band" (as opposed to a surge in applications to aeronautical engineering departments) because the real message being received by these kids is how trivial space flight seems to be when you can send a member of a singing group to work alongside scientific professionals on an apparently equal basis.
If the record for "youngest person to make a flight into space" is to be made it should be made by someone who is qualified and earned the position. A stint at Space Camp when you were 12 does not qualify you, Mr Bass. Talk to NASA in 15 years AFTER you have completed your post-doctoral program and can contribute something meaningful. Bottom line: get in line.
