Space/Science » in reply to Cold Fusion Redux? This SEEMS different.....

Very interesting!

I agree - this one seems different...

Sonolumenescence has been the subject of much study over the past decade, primarily because for a long time no one understood what was going on. I really wanted to study it myself at one point. There had been talk of doing sono lumenescence in heavy water to get fusion, but last I heard it had been determined that the pressure/density in the bubbles fell short by an order of magnitude or so...

If this is a true story then the use of acetone must allow better compession, (just my guess). I would be interested to see how practical it is to use for energy production... Table top, (OK granted a BIG table top), fusion can be done with ultra short pulse lasers now... Dr. Ditmire, now at UT austin, has generated fusion by focussing ultrashort laser pulses into deuterium clusters...( the intensity at the laser focus was ~10^21 W/cm2- this is the equivalent of focussing down all the sunlight that hits the Earth to a point 100 micrometers in diameter!!) but there is no way to use this as a power source...

I think, given the negative reaction to the pons-fleischmann fiasco, that no scientist would make a cold fusion announcement w/o darn good evidence!

I hope it is true...thanks for posting it!!!
