Halley is the first who predicted his Comet would return back and it did and this vindicated Newton's laws and writings. That was the great scientific revolution. Certainly, other astronomers saw comets before but none made the deductions that made Halley and Newton famous.
Besides, why isn't Newfoundland called ErictheRedland???
