If smaller means cheaper, faster and more available, there are probably a lot of reasons to keep chasing it.
Artificial intelligence, voice recognition, CAD/CAM, modelling of weather and chaos of all kinds, such as combustion and molecular interactions, could use it.
I don't know we are "dependent upon Moore's Law", we'll use what we get toward those goals.
