Actually, p, I am neither fixated nor an ideologue.
Some people outside of the NEO community are confused by my report of the work of others, confusing these reports with work of my own, and thus confusing the amount of effort which I myself have made as part of the total effort to document historical impact events.
My current intention is simply to complete my current historical work and then to walk away from the problem nearly completely for quite a while.
As to courses of action, mankind can probably achieve coverage of 300 meter (continent killer) class objects with better ground telescopes and orbital telescopes.
The question is whether the damage caused by 79 meter Tunguska class objects (city killers) is worth the expense of building a man tended lunar observatory, which is PROBABLY the cheapest way of achieving this kind of coverage.
While debate on this may continue for a while, I am very certain that the value of such an observatory will be quite clear immediately after the next city is killed.
The current debate in the NEO community in which I am participating is whether it is going to take such an impact before action is taken.
Most members of the community think that people are so stupid that such an impact will have to occur before action is taken. I currently believe that people are smarter than that, but I may be conceding this argument shortly.
