Now who's off the rails? Where was I "defending" Foxconn?

I was just pointing out additional information that I didn't know before. I didn't know Foxconn wasn't a Chinese-government-owned company before this.

The is a big story that needs a lot of thinking. The article says workers get $17 a day. Average factory wage in southern China is 80 cents an hour, or around $200 a month. Do the math. "Grateful" doesn't have shit to do with it.

Also, they talk about being able to hire 3,000 people "overnight." Maybe so, but I've read other articles that say something over 24,000 people quit a month. You tell me what kind of skill sets this kind of turnover will accumulate.

This is the early Industrial Revolution still finding its level.

You think Foxconn is the only non-Chinese company in the world using Chinese labor? This is bigger than any generic outrage.

The fundamental flaw in liberal thinking is that there are no laws of economics, and that you can just stand on the beach and command the oceans to part.

What's the solution here? Tariffs? Outlawing foreign-made products? Worldwide markets will just route around them. The U.S. will pay five times more for scarcer products while the rest of the planet buys the cheap and abundant stuff. Meanwhile, our domestic high-quality, educated labor system can't seem to deliver like the "animals" can.

I think we're all open for suggestions.
