If they fired him, then there is nothing they can do to force him to take down his website. Some might consider this whole thing to be a violation of his civil rights. Unfortunately I don't believe that the right to choose where you work is a guaranteed right. Indeed I don't feel free in my country. Technically however, keeping a personal webpage is a right and one that is guaranteed by law. He can maintain that webpage regardless of whether he works as a pad rat.
You might now ask how important are the rights that are guaranteed by the constitution. Not very.
