Buck, there may be people with a different approach to these issues. Imagine a dear, sweet person who approaches these issues simplistically and on an emotional level. That is immune to reason, logic and words.
That person wouldn't approach their conclusions based on words or numbers. They would know what they feel and then come on with a "jus' little ol' me" schtick which isn't completely in error. "I know what I like" is about as much as an explanation as you'll get and that is valid for them.
Any suggestion they don't have the background to understand some topic or another well triggers deep insecurities and a fierce rebuttal. By their way of thinking they do understand and resent the perceived slight.
And their way is valid for them.
