Re: ...the Coming Moon Rush

"I seem to remember hearing somewhere someone suggesting that we try to get the Chinese involved in the ISS. While that may sound like a good idea, on second thought it would eliminate the sense of urgency and competition. That would be counterproductive for a new push to get to the Moon, or Mars. "

I wondered about something similar to this, but I don't think China needs "a sense of urgency and competition". I don't think China sees itself in any race with the US, Europe, and/or Russia. If the US were to go to the Moon in the next few years, I think China would simply continue it's plans. I think if China wanted to become involved in ISS, then currently they might planning on building their own station or currently building the capablity to become a partner in ISS. The question is why would China want to have a space station? [Why do we have one:].
Unlike NASA, I think China is mostly focused on space for economic gain.
NASA is focused on increasing it's budget- spending money.
Chinese either think we are really stupid, or are scratching their heads, wondering what we are doing:)
