Would you trust land in the next-generation space-shuttle without a pilot?
I wouldn't trust microchips to do the job alone.
I would feel more comfrotable knowing there is a well-trained, flesh-and-blood pilot, backing up the next-generation spaceshuttle's electronics, just in case something went worng.
