Of the 6 "independent" features they described originally, 4 were non-unique, non-independent, and effectively meaningless because they deliberately sorted the crystals.
The remaining two have since been disproved or substantial doubt cast on them.
They may not have been totally completely disproved in every single thing they've done and said, but it's close.
What's left is a worthless assertation based on funny blobs under a microscope.
