Space/Science » in reply to Ted Williams' body to be frozen, perhaps cloned

Re: No . . .

<Ted Williams' body (or at least his head) is rumored to be frozen like Walt Disney's supposedly is.

False, regardless of supposition.

Well, isn't such technology probably going to remain necessary for sending humans to distant galaxies?

Also no. A manned flight to another galaxy would require such technological advances as to compare today's miracles against those of Socrates. It would be considered magic by today's standards. Also, we would likely improve upon the tool, resulting in greatly extended life-spans, possibly even immortality. And if you wish to argue the logistics involved with the migration of even one (1) mobile sentient to a distant galaxy, I shall again evoke the magic of future technologies to explain it all.

As for cloning's potential usefulness, the Schwarzeneggar movie The Sixth Day comes to mind (as one could theoretically clone one's body and transfer one's memories [or at least one's memory-laden brain lobes] to the younger version of one's self).

This would be a heinous crime of ethics, as the cloned being would be an entity unto itself. Perhaps you’re just from another planet where people just don’t matter?

Cloning (and in some places I suppose cryogenics) may be immoral, and even illegal in the USA ...

Cloning is not illegal within the USA.

I sincerely apologize if any of what's above offends anyone for religious reasons.

If anything, the lack of logic and research is offending.

Cheers,
Dan
