My question when the object was first observed:
What effect will its close interaction with Earth's gravity well have on its orbit?
The Schumaker-Levy comet was deflected by a close encounter with Jupiter so that its destiny lay in a direct impact with Jupiter, if I recall.
Could this happen with this object and its 5 July close encounter with Earth?
