I heard someplace that Armstrong's coolness in this near catastrophe
Is what got him to the moon.
Most pilots black out when the roll rate hits this level.
He and his partner kept their cool and got the craft under control. It was one of the finest moments in manned space flight, imo.
And if one recalls just how dicey things got in the Eagle's descent to luna, the choice of Armstrong really was the best.
Armstrong truly had the right stuff.
