Re: Let's hope so.

If the universe operates on an infinite Big Bang\Big Crunch cycle, then could life evolve enough intelligence to survive this cycle.

How could life survive a Big Crunch? Maybe very advance life would have the know how to move far away from the area where the Big Crunch would occur. Perhaps they might be able to move entire star systems away. The they wait for the next Big Bang, wait a little longer for star systems to form, and presto, a new universe all to themselves (Life wouldn’t have evolved yet).

The two main things an advance race of beings would need to overcome. First they would have to be able to break away from the force that is pulling the universe down to the Big Crunch. Second, they would need to know how far away to move. Maybe if they moved far enough, they would discover another universe.

Perhaps what we call the universe is really a sub universe of a much larger universe- a universe were Big Crunches and Big Bangs happen where ever there is enough matter collected, but this universe is so vast, we can not detect these other sub universe from our vantage point- just a thought.

A frozen, ever expanding universe may not mean doom for intelligent life. By then, maybe some race will have discover how to turn matter directly into energy at a 100% efficacy. Then they could live in vast underground cities. They could live like this for billions of years.

Anyway, if life becomes smart enough, it could figure out a way to survive either scenario of the universe end.
