R.L- Let me get this straight...you assert that radioactivity is causing us to lose our atsmosphere?
J- I know it is difficult to understand another person’s viewpoint, specially if one has dyslexia. The point that I wanted to make was that radioactive material has been ‘dumped’ or ‘leaking’ into the atmosphere for many years and such material contains a lot of ‘activity’ that can exert kinetic energy to the surroundings. (If you doubt this, then please ask any nuclear physics professor to explain to you how the atomic reactors work.)
R.L.-Some of us prefer fact, not fantasy...
J- It is a fact that the Earth has a ‘field’ around it and that field has been termed ‘gravity’. This ‘gravitational field’ exerts a force on all material that is within this ‘field’. It so happens that the atmospheric molecules are within this gravitational field. Also, it is a fact that, if an object, no matter what size, moves faster than seven miles per second, (escape velocity of Earth.) it is able to ‘escape’ from this gravitational field. (If you doubt this, then you should talk to some of the people at NASA who have sent the space probes to the outer Solar system.) Others have speculated that most of the atmosphere of the planet Mars and Earth’s moon have disappeared due to some natural factors, such as, that the radiation from the Sun and other Cosmic sources ‘accelerated’ the molecules above the ‘escape velocity’ of the body. The assumption then being that, although the same forces were or are applied to Earth, the Earth can hold on to more of its atmosphere due to its greater ‘escape velocity’.
Now my question is: Are we increasing the kinetic energy of the atmospheric molecules, by allowing radioactivity to increase in the atmosphere, to such a state that some of the atmospheric molecules can escape into space?
I wish that I knew the truth of this subject matter, and I hope this clarifies my viewpoint to you.
R.L.- so dont be surprised when people that can spot BS call you on it...
J- On the contrary, I welcome the opportunity to explain my thoughts.
Thank you for asking.
R.L.- By the way where did I ever say radioactivity in the air is "good for you"?
J- I used your method of analyzing what was said, and since you are in favor of nuclear power and its associated ‘contamination’ of the atmosphere, then you must think that radioactive air is good for you. :-)
Cheers
Johannes
