Space/Science » in reply to I wonder if the "treehuggers" will set there sights on this space-mission?

What the hell are you talking about?

Hey! Bowser!...This might be the opportunity you've been waiting for!
You can whip out those placards and lead a protest march down to JPL in Pasadena.
You could demand that JPL "save a comet": putting that celestial body in the same category as "whales, giant Redwoods and spotted owls".

I can understand you don't believe intelligent mammals, such as whales, don't have a right to live. I can see that you think redwoods are superfulous, and some birds are in the way and should go.

And others don't.

And, I for one, believe the Moon wasn't created to be a garbage dump. And I've said the remains of scientific explorations are legitimate detritis.

Now, please take the time to explain to me how I might object to a scientific mission to a comet.

Just trying to understand your POV, or if there is one.

And a hint - people without a sense of humor shouldn't try to be funny. It comes across as crude, stupid, insensitive, that sort of thing. Leave the humor to those better able to understand nuances, such as the value of a tree, the rights of a whale, the ludicrousness of saving a "spotted owl".

Or don't. You're the one who looks foolish, and I'll defend to the death your right to do that in the US.

Arf (hopefully it wouldn't be MY death!)
