< if it was in the future viable- say for radioactive waste- I don't have "a problem" with using the Moon as a place to put waste
Well, let's make sure we bury radioactive waste on the moon deep enough, so that it is not blown off by a large impact. Even a small meteor could send some waste towards earth.
I'm partial to *giant* redwoods, there are plenty of other trees to cut. Grateful the whales weren't hunted to extinction, was hugging a lighthouse at Pt. Ryes new years day attempting to spot a blow or breach. The owls should learn to migrate.
Looking forward to the Deep Impact mission. If we blow the comet into pieces I hope we can tract the chunks. Heck, what are the odds a chunk of man made comet debris would end up aiming for earth?
All Deep Space mission are cool,

- I wonder if the "treehuggers" will set there sights on this space-mission?
