Regarding fuel, here's a clip from the Grant Chronicals website, which certainly makes much more sense.
"A small multipurpose reaction chamber is the power source of these spacecraft. It is primarily fueled by an unknown element presently not found on the periodic table, element 115. While inside the reaction chamber element 115 is compressed, and has a proton and electron sliced off. I will now give an overview of the process of energy production in the reaction chamber. The atomic structure is held together by a certain subatomic particle. All elements have a precise amount of these particles in order to maintain stability. Each progressively larger element will have a greater amount of these particles collecting in the atomic structure. The subatomic particles that holds a paired electron and proton in place, is precisely removed from element 115 to yield a hydrogen atom. The new atom drops down one elemental level to 114. The process is repeated until the base atom is reduced to hydrogen gas molecules, which is vented out of the ship in small quantities. This releases more than 99 % of the stored energy for that proton-electron bond to the atomic structure. This a highly efficient and clean way to yield almost the total power contained in the atomic bonds. The same process out of control with an unstable element is radiation. Here, the same subatomic particles are released randomly from within the atomic structure, and the element slowly breaks down to the next fundamental elemental level. As opposed to the reaction process in the spacecraft’s reactor, which is stable and complete. By removing the precise amount of subatomic particles, that controls the atomic bonds of stable or unstable elements, there is no need for the heavy shielding. Radiation leakage is a non-event. This process is the source of power for the gravity and repulsion particle flow generators of the spacecraft."
