The problem with pondering mathematically (or physically in a predictive capacity) using english or any other non-mathematical language is the ambiguity and contradictions that can (and do!) build up as a result.
Now, if we're talking Sci Fi..... Any technological civilization capable of folding space isn't going to have to worry much about orbital mechanics.
