Re: My 2-cents worth

Those of us who know something about hydrogen would take hydrogen over gasoline any day when talking about hazards. Hydrogen dissipates very rapidly in a leak situation, and if ignited, burns only for seconds. Gasoline does neither. After the first few seconds, most of the Hindenberg fire was fed by its flammable skin and other structure.

Hydrogen is not carcinogenic when inhaled. Gasoline, especially the California brand that has had carcinogens added by the environmentalists, can be. And hydrogen leaks are totally harmless to the environment. Fossil fuel leaks are not.

There may be a way to deal with high-pressure hydrogen storage by building pressure bottle "cartridges" that would be switched out by customers and later refilled at professional filling sites. Maybe it could even be automated--back the car up to a socket and a machine switches the (probably very heavy) cartridges for you. I have confidence that human ingenuity will come up with something.
