That's not the point. There is not a 1 to 1 correlation between what is transferred to the wealthy and what that costs the economy.

For instance, let's say an engineering job is outsourced. It costs the economy directly $80,000 a year, and indirectly the person can't pay for his house, winds up on unemployment and so on. So it costs the community $120,000 a year.

By the time they are done with setting up communications links, inefficiency, paying the foreign engineer and his company, the US corporation may save $15,000. (I've pulled those figures out of my chair seat.)

Set up taxing so as to make it unprofitable to screw the American economy and worker that way. Can't stop them from doing it, but you can make it unprofitable.

By the way, having the engineering done on-site without language problems, etc, would be more productive than the off-site work plus taxes.

Short-term gain is not always the best gain.
