Interesting you can't see the difference between livestock and natural wildlife. It shows how little you may understand environmental issues. Farming in general and livestock in particular are some of the worst causes of environmental destruction. The Amazon Rainforest is the most obvious example of this but there are countless others. Obviously we need farms to live but there are so many more than are necessary. With modern farming methods the state of California has enough farmland to feed the entire planet. Clearly we can't put all our eggs in one basket and every nation understandbly wants to have some self-sufficiency in food supply for national security reasons, but still the global farm welfare system is insanity both from a economic and environmental perspective. Those of you defending the farmers over the environment should take a good hard look at the preposturous agriculture policies we and most of the world currently maintain, and the price we pay for it.
