You wanna have a European's point of view?
Until about the late 80's, we were more sympathetic to Israel (democracy, our cousins, brilliant people, etc...victims of terrorism).
When the Intifada started, Europe shifted more towards the Palestinians. The Intifada is a desperate and disorganized revolt behavior. It's not terrorism at all. It's young people who can only express despair with what they have on the streets: stones. So, the point is to try to understand their feelings. And they have serious reasons for this behavior. They are undermined, suspected, disrespected. No wonder they reply back that way. Their religion or their authorities are able to convince them that suicide is honorable and for some, it's their goal (in life).
I absolutely agree extremists are responsible for the
mess. But there are extremists on both sides.
I just hope the situation down there won't lead to a global conflict, just by the alliances game (like WWI or 14-18 as we say).
