There is another term for "government sponsored research"

That term is "corporate welfare." Are we to believe that if the federal government doesn't fund this research, it isn't going to happen? Given the recent congressional testimony, stem cells hold the promise to cure everything from diabetis to danderuff. Given that potential (as dubious as it sounds), there's money to be made in them there stem cells. Private research is already underway and it isn't subject to the restrictions, only government funded research. Furthermore, foreign researchers aren't impacted by our restrictions at all. As a final point, these restrictions only cover embryotic stem cell research. It doesn't impact adult stem cell research, animal stem cell research, or umbilical cord blood stem cell research.
