I am not trying to rile anyone up, or to be flippant.

This attack was carried out by professionals. It seems very likely that they may have had inside help.

I am wondering if we will ever know with any acceptable degree of certainty who was really responsible. But I am inclined to believe that whatever we do learn, much of the true story will never come to light.

As big as we all know this is, it may be bigger still, bigger than any of us realize.

It would be nice if it were some nation-state somewhere who is responsible, whom we could designate as 'enemy' and then properly annihilate those who gave the orders and worked to carry out this operation. That's how we always thought it worked in the old days. World War II was simple and everyone was convinced he or she knew who the bad guys were.

What troubles me is that this situation may not be so simple, and that there may never be a proper resolution.

I hope I am wrong.
