Re: Deity worship, irrational belief and terrorist attacks

While I was hesitant at first to answer your post...

...I will do so.

Religion is at the heart of this event in many ways as the Muslim/US impasse is du in part to the manifestation of US/Israel alliance.

I believe in no deities - only beings of infinitely ever increasing capability and understanding - much as we see here on earth.

In an infinite universe even the most powerful god must be a finite manifestation and so omnipotence is impossible except for the 'infinite' itself - and the infinite is not a finite expression.

When I hear God Bless America - it is with the understanding that an intelligence greater than our own helped to form and guide the founding fathers which composed the national infrastructure and is looking out for us.

I believe this is the case. The founding fathers were inspired men.

However, these intelligences I do not view as gods - nor do I make them into omnipotent emotionally minded replicas of mankind.

Yes, to me, it is clear that no God dishes out retribution or Salvation - each individual must earn his own place in this universe - each thought and action molds his being - and his future.

A form or religious nihilism is not desirable as religions serve a valuable purpose here - they help form moral values and keep the lower natures in man from getting out of hand.

Eventually, one realizes prayer (for outside assistance) is generally self-defeating - and that action is much more effective. Prayer may amount to positive thoughts - which is a step in the right direction - but positive action is so much more powerful. Writing letters, donating blood, contributing of ones time and labor to what can assist makes one a 'tool' of more infinite intelligence.

While I agree with some of your sentiments - the tone is all wrong and condemning, and betrays a lack of understanding of the big picture...

In many areas of this nation religion is an integral part of people's lives - for example I was surprised how many more people attend services here in Phoenix than in San Diego. The churches are as common here as were 7-11's there...one to every other block.

So you will find a lot of opposition to your post...as you are attacking the core 'goodness' and 'morality' ofr many folks who find this base in religious expression.

Best wishes,

SDAI-Tech1
