Re: And How About That Scharping Guy . . . ??

"I hope we all remain calm and do not now speak of a state of alarm. We do not face a war. We face the question of what is an appropriate response," German Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping told German television. "Not in the sense of revenge and retribution, but in order to be able to fight and break international terror."

If I may:
“I hope we all remain calm and do not now speak of a state of alarm.”
I wonder what state it should be. Scharping seems unable to focus on what has occurred. This is not a power outage. This is not even an attack on a power plant, or a string of plants along the Colorado River. This is not even the takeover of O’Hare. This is thousands of blatantly murdered, international citizens. But don’t be alarmed...

“We do not face a war.”
This crank seems to not realize that we’ve been facing this war for decades, but inactivity allowed it to escalate to an unprovoked level of mass destruction. But it’s not a war...

“We face the question of what is an appropriate response.”
To me, the complete eradication of terrorism seems to be an appropriate response.

“Not in the sense of revenge and retribution, but in order to be able to fight and break international terror.”
We have been fighting and breaking international terrorism for as long as it has existed. It is time to kill it.
