Yeah. It's all our fault. I've heard this shit from a large number of largely left-wing sources, ranging from those who make no attempt to hide their rabid hatred of America to those who disguise their loathing with regretful, "would that it could be otherswise" phrasing.

If there is any civilization at all on this goddam planet in the 21st century it's because Western Culture put it there. You know it, Milne knows it, and every Third-World dictator on Earth building palaces on the starving bodies of his people knows it. This is why we are hated--not because we are evil, but because we are good.

I'm glad that Milne thinks that Afghanistan would have been better off ruled by the Soviet Union, whose fall I imagine he weeps over every day. Maybe he should check some other countries and see how Muslims fared under Soviet rule. The alternatives are not simply theocracy and communism, you know.

If I had one wish, it is that people like Milne were forced to live under the totalitarian system they worship, instead of wallowing like bloated pigs in the luxury and freedom provided them by the capitalism and democracy they spit on every day.
