Algebra, astronomy, daily bathing....zero - it often surprises people to learn how much of ?Western Culture? is derived from the Arabs and other Middle Eastern ?infidels.



this actually misses the point. What a culture once was is not what a culture is today. Western culture has absorbed all the great things from other cultures, and that is what makes them great. Middle eastern culture has been stuck in what its prime was in the middle ages. . . which is no longer prime by todays standards.

They are mostly stuck with monarchies and despots, living off primitive economies generated by their oil supply.

In support of what Tom is saying, Western Culture carved up the Ottoman Empire after WW1 and established modern borders. Therefor, each country there today is there, at least in part, due to western civilisation.
