The effects of the news images on our children

I have been hearing from a few different sources, about the adverse effects the images being shown on television are having on our children. Some are saying that small children who watch the news may not comprehend that it is an instant replay they are watching, and believe it is really happening over and over again. Other children have watched the replay so much they believe that the events actually happened to them personally.

Saturday morning I was so tired of tv, I was hoping to have a little relief. Since we don't get any channels other thatn that which comes through the rabbit ears, there simply wasn't any relief atlla last week. I was extremely happy to find that CBS was showing cartoons and kid shows nonstop without commercials saturday morning. My little girl and I watched three episodes of Blues Clues and before turning it off and getting on with our day. CBS should be applauded for allowing kids to have a little of their stability back on a saturday morning.

Kids are sponges and take in a lot of images. I hope everyone thinks about how long they have had their televisions on lately and try to limit their kids' exposure to the graphic images of people jumping from buildings and buckets of body parts. Its an excellent time to read to your kids.
