This situation looks like this: a man kills your loved ones and you take your gun and kill him.
Then his son will come and get you, and ...and...it's the ripple effect (mafia etc).
Now consider this:
Bin Laden is a terrorist and he hates the US; he's not the only one; the US goes on a "crusade" (sunday's version:-) after the terrorists and neutralize them.
The "war" (or rather conflict) won't be over! It will just start so what do we do?
We try to understand why they hate us so much and bring them to the discussion table; we TALK, argue, persuade, without EVER humiliating them, always letting them a freedom of choice (never blackmailing them); they might just have good arguments! They might just be worth listening to. I remember being very pleasantly surprised when the PLO and the then Israeli governement were having talks: it was possible!! Now, I just heard a leader of the Hamas stating their demands in french. It might be trivial but such things help negociators tremendously (like Hanan Ashraoui being a catholic palestinian).
Clearly, hate come from misunderstanding and throwing bombs won't help, no it won't help but will only encourage hatred. It doesn't have to be so.
