Re: The place
Well, Dan, I went there in the summer of 1979.
It's where I had my first experience of practically no shadow (the Sun being at the zenith for a few days).
The first person I meat was someone who shared the taxi from Ben Gurion airport to Tel Aviv: a South African. I had never meat one before and it seemed only Israel welcomed those who still practised apartheid at the time. In a hotel restaurant at Tel Aviv, I heard a conversation between south African and Israeli arms dealers.
I didn't visit Jerusalem and regret it. I hope the country will return back to its youthful spirit it had at the time, but this time together with the Arabs.
