There is the Al Aksa mosque in Jerusalem and also Arabs were living in the areas occupied by Israel.
Why should they definitely be chased away from the region when that's where they came from?
I suspect one of two reasons
a) they aren't, the Israelis let them visit it
b) they are attacking Israel from there/they cause trouble
The Israelis came from all over the world and settled there, since WW2. Why do they more have the right to be there than the Palestinians?
Ethinically they are from around the same place. However I reconize no claim to land based on ethnic origin, I think any argument like that is pointless. There are so many ambiguitites and so many drastic overtones that would be the result from recognizing such a value that it really isn't practical.
What matters is the Israelis are there, they are a democracy, they have an arab population (so they must allow arabs to join). Why give israelis control? why give palestinians control? it has to be one or the other, they aren't going to work together. If you think so you are fooling yourself. Right now the Israelis are in control and in the region, so lets stick with them.
Jerusalem is a fascinating place, isn't it? The origin of 3 Monotheistic religions and each one, through time, claiming the place to be its own.
Why Jerusalem? Is it because the Mount of Olives inspires people into feeling closer to God?
so idea Raoul, personally I could care less. I fancy the idea of blowing up every single holy site in the region, but short of that I will support the current democratic superpower in the region.
A bit like Jim Irwin at the Hadley Mount site! Very inspiring, but it's just a nice view. Our mind is just playing tricks.
I dunno/couldn't tell ya Raoul. . . sorry :-(
