Bush never said it was just about Osama bin Laden. From the beginning, the objective has been to get him and his organization.

As for sending bin Laden to stand trial in a neutral country "which is neither under the influence of the United States, nor the Taliban", what country do you suppose that would be? What country would want to host this trial? To do so is to invite terrorism on their own soil in an attempt to free him. In all probability, virtually any country that we might suggest would be rejected as being under our influence.

It appears to me this is just another attempt to buy time and end the bombing by making an offer they know no one will accept. It's a play to the gullible. Besides, if last week's reports are true, bin Laden basically bankrolls the Taliban and controls most of their military forces. There's virtually no way they'd ever turn him over.
