Re: So Israel is going to invade what is left of Palestine because a racist member of government is killed

The day Prime minister Rabin was assassinated by another Israeli, I thought there would be a reaction from the people in favor of the peace process and that Rabin, Peres and Arafat would be vindicated.
Instead, the Israelis voted more and more conservative and less and less for peace, vindicating the assassin. That's certainly because they are scared.
The Israelis have lost more people through car accidents than through terrorism and wars. And they must have felt they'd be protected in any case by the US. These are some of the reasons why peace wasn't that important, I believe.
Then, last year, Ariel Sharon went to the Al Aksa Mosque, provoking the Palestinians. AND he is now Prime Minister. More Machiavelian than this doesn't exist.
Perhaps, the Israelis will one day understand it's not worth staying there and many will return back to where they came from, OR they will understand Israel's survival passes through peace, which means compromises.
It's a serious mess.
