The meaning of Jihad is pretty clear from the context

I would strong dispute the view that 'Jihad' merely means a peaceful effort to be good, or to strive or struggle to be good. That's just a clever line of lying BS that many Muslims try to pass off on outsiders (non-Muslims) in a attempt to shift the blame for the confict onto the non-Muslims, because of their ignorance of the true peaceful nature of Islam, etc.

When Palestinian, Pakistani, Al-Queda, or other Muslim leaders specifiy call for 'Jihad', and mention in the same damn breath 'death to Israel, Jews, Americans, Westerners', etc. there is absolutely no room at all for misunderstanding or misinterpretation. It's pretty obvious in this context that 'Jihad' means violence and death for the evil infidels who are enemies of Islam.

It's foolish for us to naively pretend otherwise.
