There has never been a spontaneous mid-air fuel tank explosion.
And no source for Flight 800's CWT explosion has ever been identified, EXCEPT for a missile, which was seen and reported by hundreds of people, including pilots aloft.
There is no clear indication of the cause of this crash, although it seems likely that a problem with one of the engines initialized a chain of events culminating in the big jet's impact on Rockaway. If that scenario is accurate, then the question focuses on the cause of the engine problem. As Larry has noted, sabotage is not out of the question at present.
I choose to speak out on these and other issues from time to time. The last time I checked, that was still my right.
