<In modern times, we see the quaint notion that women who stay at home and raise their children don't work and are therefore not entitled to retirement benefits except through their husbands. No administration, Democratic or Republican, has addressed this problem.
And they never will.
Pay people an income, with retirement bennies -- to have children??
Not exactly my idea of a 2-income family, Mary Anne. Talk about a problem doomed to snowballing momentum. I would hate to be the country that runs this gamut. The only way it could possibly work is through the shedding of other rights (i.e., you may only have 2 children per household).
Child care is paid for in years of women's lives. That women will do that, I reiterate, speaks volumes for women. Men, on the whole, will not.
‘Boys’ on the whole, will not, just as ‘girls’ on the whole will live a life of perpetual pregnancy, abuse and poverty. I believe there is a matter of maturity toward one’s life-choices and responsibilities at work here.
There really aren’t that many adults in this world.
Workwise, Mary Anne, I take it you’re back with the kids?
I was at the local library the other day looking for information regarding Saturn’s Titan. I dug through the books, through the internet, through the stacks. I ended up finding the trivial bit I was searching for in the basement -- with the kid’s books (I received a number of indignant looks from patrons far shorter than I.
;^)
