Tools of the Trade
Profiling should merely be one of a number of tools used by the intelligence and security forces.
It would be foolish for such agencies to afford equal attention to a caucasian grandmother travelling on an British passport, and a young Middle Easterner travelling with Pakastani documents.
Perhaps my understanding of profiling is flawed, but I think it would be a great mistake for our intelligence and security services to discard a potentially useful information because it is not politically correct in someone's book.
By itself, profiling is probably not that effective. As one of a number of tools, it may have some utility.
