Interesting to hear you hem and haw about whether a tax cut is good or not. As for Daschle saying the Bush tax cut is to blame for the recession, I thought I addressed that point. The recession certainly wiped out the surplus but the high long term rate is what is keeping us in recession and the long term rate is partially effected by the long term borrowing needs of government. Daschle's comments, while clearly of a political nature, have a sound basis in economic theory. As for projections being "wild-assed-guesses--over the next 10 years," well it's not quite that bad but there's no way we can know for sure what will happen over the long term. That's the way it's always been and projections based on various economic reports and trends are all we have to work with.
