Excellent info.
" Some environmentalists fear Abraham’s announcement will let U.S. automakers duck the hybrid market, even though the cars have sold well at around $20,000 each.
Studying future uses of hydrogen is “legitimate research, but it’s a smokescreen,” John DeCicco, a senior fellow with Environmental Defense. “It’s using legitimate future research needs to hide the fact the Japanese have beaten the pants off them for delivering the goods to the marketplace.”

Typical, expected ultra leftist enviro-whining. Anything to disparage a Republican and destroy the US economy.
Look why is it NOT in the US's best interest to screw over Japanese auto makers by leapfroging them? And ESPECIALLY if it lets us get off the risky dependence on our 'allies" in Saudi Arabia who are constantly schooling the next generation of terrorists in their rabid Muslim fundamentalist schools?
If those hybrid cars REALLY sell well, then the free market will make Toyota even richer. More power to 'em, if so.
