All of these bong fantasies, including Carson's "Mutualism," fail in execution on one simple point: Who decides?

All of these bong fantasies, including Carson's "Mutualism," fail in execution on one simple point: Who decides?

(The first person who yells "The People!" will be kindly invited to go outside and sit with their thumb in their mouth.)

Every one of these utopian ideas requires, somewhere, a "dictator," visible or not, to maintain the system. The original Utopia did. It takes very little analysis of any one of the organizing principles these people propose to realize that they all assume some major outside force that keeps humanity forced into this rigid mold in every conceivable transactional relationship.

"Mutualism is based on a labor theory of value that holds that when labor or its product is sold, in exchange, it ought to receive goods or services embodying "the amount of labor necessary to produce an article of exactly similar and equal utility".

- From the article linked above

"As Noam Chomsky put it, a consistent libertarian 'must oppose private ownership of the means of production and the wage slavery, which is a component of this system, as incompatible with the principle that labor must be freely undertaken and under the control of the producer.'"

- From the Wikipedia reference on Libertarian Socialism. an ideological dog's breakfast if ever I've seen one. Go look.

How is this "exchange rate" tallied? By what algorithms? Who sets them? What happens to someone who decides his labor or his product is worth a bit more, and can easily get his price on an open market? Fines? Imprisonment? By who, or what? "People's Committees," which worked so well for the workers in Maoist China? How many people can you hire before they become "wage slaves?" How successful can you be before you become "the enemy?"

This is not libertarianism. This is not freedom. This is abject slavery.

These systems would barely work in a subsistence farming economy. You expect it to run an advanced Western civilization?

This ideological crap, like Chomsky himself, would not survive five minutes outside the pressurized academic refuges where they are protected from reality. Thank God most of these people rarely gain power.
