...(unless maybe you want to count the abortion clinic headlines), but Christians have been killing people of other faiths ( and other Christians, for that matter) for a long long time. Recently, Ireland and Bosnia come to mind. If you want to talk about mass murders of Jews in Germany you have to go back a few years. If you want to talk about mass murders of Jews in Italy you have to go back several centuries. Wanna talk Spanish Inquisition? Crusades? KKK? Salem? The deliberate use of scarlet fever and influenza to decimate American Indian populations?
Here's a wierd analogy: suppose that congress decides that Washington needs a gigantic Martin Luthor King monument and can't think of a place to put it other than where the Viet Nam War Memorial is. The plan is to move the current memorial, raze the ground and construct the King monument in its place. There is a small amount of controversy (this is understatement) and a small group of King supporters marches on Washington to see to it that their project goes through. What happens next? Do you think that Americans are so wonderful that there could certainly be no fatalities over this? Are we really so civilized?
