I saw this guy in an interview recently. He was bemoaning our jingoistic behavior at the Olympics and suggesting that we go in the tank occasionally for the benefit of foreign relations. He is certain that the Russians did exactly that in the famous USA Hockey win coincidental with their Afghan invasion.
It is hard to square that ramble with this insightful (imo, of course) piece. :)
Maybe it is just a sports thing.
