Careful, this could be interpreted more than one way. Maybe this means that the economy is better, or maybe it means that the Democrats pass out the corporate welfare more readily than Republicans, or are more malleable under the influence of campaign contributions.

This also sounds a little odd, considering that most Democrats believe that people who cut down trees are demons from hell.

Another interesting item in this sentence: "My wealthiest friend, whose father was one of the founders of a Big 7 lumber company..." Does this friend still run the company? Is he doing anything productive, or did he just inherit a load of money?
