Holy jumping polecats, you tried to do it anyway! Parse your way out of this! I'm impressed by your chutzpah, if not your debating skills.
Only one single portion of the "system" falls into the category of "siezing the products of our hard earned labors by force if necessary." The taxing power of the government. If you weren't responding to that part of Phil's post when you railed about his complaining about contributing to the "system," what the hell WERE you talking about?
What possible interpretation can you give to the phrase you used, "pay for the system" except taxation?
...you'd be absolutely delighted to support a system which has given you better table scraps than what substantial numbers of people in the world eat on their best days. When you get more, you pay more. Isn't that understandable to a conservative?
Who am I paying? How? Paying "more" to what? I responded in my post that it isn't the government putting food on my table. Or did you miss that point?
Sorry. You weren't talking about "capitalism" taking our money, but the government, and every single person reading these posts knows it. Capitalism doesn't take money by force. You buy things, giving value for value.
Your attempts to weasel out of these things are becoming as irritating as when Lindy used to post horseshit without comment and then after everyone reamed her out, say, "well, I'm just posting it to see what everyone thinks. It's not like this is MY position or anything..."
For the record, I do not begrudge that portion of my taxes which go to the military, one of the few proper functions of a government. But then, that's not where most of my taxes are going.
