We were discussing resources, experience, and history pertaining to the control and manipulation of public opinion, and how governments or private industry compare.
The word "propaganda" was invented by politicians.
Let me know when an Exxon CEO holds a rally in a stadium for his followers, or has them march in lines of thousands in front of him. Tell me when the head of a corporation starts building gigantic statues of himself in public squares, or plasters his photo on every vertical surface in the country. Show me where a corporation controls most of the national education system.
I have heard bloody dictators praised on this board for providing college scholarships, while corporations are imagined as the worst threat to liberty in our time.
How does that kind of thinking get put into someone's head?
That's manipulation.
