Not exactly...

Hi Buck,

Sharon's notorious exploits ( i.e. the Lebanon incursion, the Temple Mount parade) and his track record make him unable to be trusted.

Israel hardliners want the west bank as a buffer zone - they always have.

The Hamas terrorists and the Palestinian people are not being distinguished to any tangible margin.

The US did not treat all Afghans or muslims in as harsh a manner as the Israelis are treating the Palestinians.

The unspoken truth is Israel sees all Palestinians as inferior beings and good for target practice.

The Israeli military wrote the western book on torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners.

When the tanks are recalled and the Palestinian people look at what Israel has accomplished - Hamas recruitment will multiply a hundred-fold, over the whole region. When some of the survivors of raids talk to the media - the west will be horrified about the past bloody week - and likely so much so as to perhaps permanantly erode US support for Israel.

Israel will be lucky if they still exist in ten years with Sharon at the helm.

Saddam's first use of a dirty nuclear device will not be New York - but would clearly be Jerusalem. Israel has, by this overboard action, effectively slowed down our efforts to go after Saddam likely by months - perhaps leading unknowingly to their own future demise.

Sharon has systematically orchestrated this purge and the Israeli people have a new Hitler leading them. Yes, Arafat is Mussolini to Sharon's Hitler.

Ironically, if one is not Jewish and can look at the situation without the bias of Religious indoctrination - one can clearly</> see - the Jews ARE the modern day Nazis.

Legal torture.
On the spot executions without law.
Marshall law imposed on non-combatant civilians.
Extermination squads.
Children and women fair targets.
Perpetual Police state.

Like some Greek tragedy or Twilight Zone plot - the persecuted have become the persecutors. And just like the Nazi's they can justify everything under the guise of Religion - tell themselves God is on their side.

God helps them put bullets into the teen-aged kids heads.

God helps them blow up the parts of towns which house suspected enemies.

God helps them shoot an old man who opens up a window.

Yes the Israeli's god is apparently just as bloodthirsty as ever. He has not evolved in thousands of years - and sadly the journey through the wilderness has only led to a sort of mass-insanity spread throughout the world.

Harsh? Intolerant? Perhaps.

But wait a week or two and see what stories will come out from under this reign of terror.

Yes, Afghanistan and the West Bank are both military actions - but that is where the similarity ends. The bottom line is the US forces and commanders have much more compassion and no personal vendettas to settle - they are also led by someone who has a heck of a better track record than Sharon.

To sum up: the US is fighting a political war - the Israelis are waging a religious one.

My 35 cents,
