Nope. Desperation is. Arguably the biggest expression of terrorism was the US firebombing of Tokyo, Kobe, Dresden and Hamburg in WWII. Done at a time when the wars were won, they were directed against civilian populations. The Tokyo raid along killed 250,000 people. That was done by a democracy.
Regarding civil disobedience, quoting -
"Mahatma Gandhi fought for the independence of India without resorting to terrorism. So too did the peoples of Eastern Europe in their struggle to bring down the Berlin Wall. And Martin Luther King's campaign for equal rights for all Americans eschewed all violence, much less terrorism."
Gandhi and the Indians were dealing with a civilized nation, unwilling to slaughter them.
The peoples of Eastern Europe did struggle. Hungarians were subjugated by the USSR during their revolt much like the Palestinians - tanks and troops marauding through civilian areas. Eastern Europeans were freed when the economic system collapsed, not because of any civil disobedience. (I don't know why he would have used this example.)
Martin Luther King and the civil rights people had the media and most of the country on their side.
Sharon has demonstrated repeatedly what he will do to helpless civilians even when they aren't engaged in civil disobedience. Not a nice guy.
Nope, won't work. Bogus suggestion.
